Prograze Plus - PROfarm course

Course details

Name: Prograze Plus
Description: This workshop series builds on the skills and knowledge learnt in PrograzeTM, leading to the development of a whole farm fodder budget. This course is for sheep and cattle producers who have completed PrograzeTM.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $450 GST-free.
Includes course manual and copy of computer software tool PRO Plus.
Course aims:
  • To improve the profitability and sustainability of beef and sheep farms through the development and implementation of property grazing plan.
Learning outcomes:
  • Develop strategic grazing management plans.
  • Integrate pasture and livestock targets with whole farm plans for a sustainable grazing system.
  • Use fodder budgeting to assess grazing plan.
  • Use the computer-based software tool PRO Plus in developing and assessing grazing plans.
Length: 5 half day workshops (17 hours total) delivered over 9 months.
Course program/structure: Day 1: Introduction to Prograze Plus

Day 2: How to develop a grazing plan

Day 3: Develop your own grazing plan with PRO Plus

Day 4: Monitor and assess your grazing plan with PRO Plus

Day 5: Evaluate your grazing plan and experience

Resources and method of delivery: Participants will receive a course manual and a copy of the computer software tool PRO Plus.

This course is delivered using both indoor and outdoor instruction.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the following national units of competency:
  • RTE4104A - Develop livestock feeding plans
  • RTE3114A - Implement feeding plans for livestock

This course was developed with the financial assistance of Meat and Livestock Australia.
