The Long Paddock
The Long Paddock website is provided by the Queensland Government. It supplies decision-support information services to help clients better manage climatic risks and opportunities particularly those associated with the El Niņo - Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon.
Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology (BOM)
The BOM maintains comprehensive information on Australian weather and climate including:
- SILO: a rich source of meteorological and agricultural data of particular interest to anyone involved in the agricultural arena.
- NSW weather observations: rain, weather and river height bulletins.
- Weather charts: national and international
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia
Produces enhanced satellite images using images received from the GMS satellite operated by the Japanese Meteorological Agency:
- Australian satellite image taken every four hours.
- 24 hour cloud movement shows the last seven satellite images as a movie.
- Other satellite images including global and Australian images (low resolution).
Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory
Provides weather information from ocean observations including El Niņo and La Niņa.
Institute of Global Environment and Society (IGES)
6-day precipitation outlook for Australia and New Zealand using information from the Center for Ocean–Land–Atmosphere Studies (COLA).
