Profile of plantation authorisations 1 December 2001 to 30 June 2009
Primefact Number: 743 Edition: Second edition Released/reviewed: Oct 2009
Within NSW there are four possible plantation approval scenarios.
These include plantations authorised under the Plantations and Reafforestation Act 1999(PRA) (from Dec 01-present); those accredited under the Timber Plantations (Harvest Guarantee) Act 1995 (TPHG) (between July 97 - Dec 2001); and existing plantations > 30 ha that predate the PRA and the TPHG Act.
The latter will be systematically authorised under the PRA prior to the next rotation.
The final category are the smaller plantations less than 30 ha, classed as exempt farm forestry that require no further approvals provided that clearing of native vegetation is not involved.
