Private native forestry

Hardwood plantation

Private native forestry (PNF) is the sustainable logging of native vegetation on private property, and is regulated under the Native Vegetation Act 2003 and the Private Native Forestry Codes 2007, which are administered by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water.

The regulations require approval for any harvesting of native forests, through the development of a ‘property vegetation plan’ (PVP).
