Hydraulic conductivity - a simple test for shallow coastal acid sulfate soils

information sheet

This is a simple, semi-quantitative field method for assessing the likely range of saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) in shallow coastal acid sulfate soils (ASS). It has been developed for extension officers, landholders and field workers who work with ASS. It is based on established field-based methods for assessing Ksat in shallow pits.

The three downloads are:
  • the instructions for the method
  • a recording sheet that is suitable to take into the field to record data
  • a spreadsheet for recording and analysing the results
