This 9th edition of the Manual is published for the first time on the Web. In the office, the Web improves the usability of the manual by allowing rapid cross referencing between sections and even reference to other links on the NSW Department of Primary Industries website.

We are indebted to Graeme Eamens, the editor of the 8th edition, who provided the current editors with the basic format and much of the content of these web pages.

Many laboratory staff have contributed to this revised Manual. Notably, Roger Cook who was an enthusiastic supporter of the project until his retirement. Also, field veterinarians have provided suggestions, which have been incorporated.
