Q fever

Q Fever is usually an asymptomatic infection of animals caused by Coxiella burnetii, but it can cause abortion in sheep and goats and infections in man.

Diagnosis

The complement fixation test is not a reliable test for Q Fever. At present there is no routine test available for diagnosis. The CFT is used only for export certification.

Specimens required

  2. For export certification, serum sample forwarded chilled for CFT.
