Local landholders are set to benefit from a new approach to pest animal management in the Border and Richmond Ranges.
NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) will kick-off the plan with two workshops in Kyogle on Monday, February 16, and Urbenville, on Thursday, February 19.
Natural resource management officer with NSW DPI, Shane Adams, said input from workshop participants would be used to develop a collaborative approach to pest animal management across the upper Richmond and upper Clarence.
"Everyone with an interest in managing pest animals - landholders, Livestock Health and Pest Authority rangers, government and agency staff involved in pest management - is encouraged to attend," Mr Adams said.
"Clearly wild dogs, rabbits, foxes, pigs and other pest animals don’t differentiate between farm fence lines or council boundaries and we can develop effective programs by working together to coordinate control programs."
The free workshops are scheduled to take place at the Kyogle Memorial Hall and the Urbenville Community Centre from 6 pm.
A light supper will be provided and participants are requested to register their interest with Mr Adams, (02) 6391 3891 or shane.adams@dpi.nsw.gov.au by Friday, February 6.
More information on the pest animal management workshops is available from Shane Adams at NSW DPI’s Orange Agricultural Institute.
