Win a rod and reel at the ANFD

School children visiting the Australian National Field Days (ANFD) next week will have a chance to win a brand new rod and reel from NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

NSW DPI fisheries education officer, Brett Smith, said the competition would be drawn on the last day of the ANFD which will be held from Tuesday October 16 until Thursday October 18 at Borenore, near Orange.

"They just need to answer some simple questions on freshwater recreational fishing rules to be in the running to win," Mr Smith said.

The competition is open to children up to 16 years of age.

According to Mr Smith the NSW DPI fisheries education trailer, known as Perchy, has been designed to provide a fun and interactive way for young and old to learn more about sustainable recreational fishing and how to help protect and improve fish habitat.

"Information about the new recreational fishing regulations will be on-hand with a direct link to the NSW DPI website so we can download any information visitors may want," he said.

"They can get information about Fish Friendly Farms, play fishing games on the PlayStation2 and see a live bait display."
