Cumberland State Forest will be bustling with all the fun of the fair on Sunday, 15 October.
There will be loads of fun activities and exhibits for the whole family.
“You can watch woodworking demonstrations, try your hand at orienteering or taste fresh honey,” said Department of Primary Industries events manager Kylie Davies.
“Kids who attend the Cumberland Forest Fair can get creative with forest craft activities, enter a colouring in competition and play a bingo game with prizes. Enjoy a pony ride, face painting and have your photo taken with the roving frog and gecko.
“The whole family can take a guided forest walk or spot some birds with the Cumberland Bird Observer’s walks.”
Ms Davies said people would be able to sit in the Forests NSW helicopter and a fire fighting tanker.
“The popular Forests NSW forest nursery will be open and you can ask for garden advice or buy a dinosaur Wollemi Pine,” Ms Davies said.
“Pull up a piece of grass, enjoy the food and tap along to the bush band, Simply Bushed. There will be lots more to see and do.”
The Cumberland Photography Competition is running before the fair and all entries will be on display for all to view.
“Come and discover 'What is a forest to you?',” Ms Davies said.
Set among the towering eucalypts of New South Wales’ only metropolitan State forest, the event allows people to gain an insight into forest recreation and some unique ways to experience the beauty of the bush.
The fair will run from 9am to 4:30pm on Sunday 15 October. Entry is free, with on-site parking available. Cumberland State Forest is located at 95 Castle Hill Road, West Pennant Hills.
