NSW Department of Primary Industries now  has a new, enhanced, user friendly web mapping service available through the  website.

DPI Director Geological Survey of NSW  Lindsay Gilligan said the substantially upgraded version of DPI’s web mapping  service MinView, has now been released.

“The MinView system enables users to  interactively display and query historical and current exploration tenement and  geoscience information via the internet,” Mr Gilligan said.

“Users can now access the improved service  from the new blue MinView icon either on the Minerals Division home page or on  the Geological Survey page.

“Importantly, users will now be able to lodge  and pay for mineral exploration licence applications through a new online  payment function on the site. The new feature reconciles licence applications  against competing land tenure such as other minerals tenements and conservation  areas then passes the information to an online payment facility” Mr Gilligan  said.

“Existing functions including text  searches, spatial queries, and downloads and links to the wealth of NSW  open-file exploration company and geoscience reports available via the  Department’s DIGS® document archive have also been retained.”

“The new version has vastly improved user  interface with large scale new zoom and pan functionality, so even large data  sets such as geophysical images can be quickly viewed using a broadband  internet connection.

“It also introduces a new interactive  experience to registered users - providing both an Email Reminder service,  which reminds the user of upcoming exploration licence expiry dates, and an  Email Alert service which provides the user with an email message alert when  changes to tenure occur in a user-specified location.

“A bookmark facility allows users to recall  up to 100 customised screen views and users can access their own stored ‘profile’  from any remote site where they have web browser access to broadband internet.
