Workshop - Emergency Animal Disease Response and Preparedness in Wagga Wagga 23-25 June

As a veterinarian, if you visited a local rural property and suspected a highly contagiousexotic disease would you know what to do and who to contact?

NSW Department of Primary Industries in association with Hume, Riverina and Lachlan LHPAs hosted a 3-day workshop for Private, LHPA and NSW DPI veterinarians on Emergency Animal Disease Response and Preparedness in Wagga Wagga 23-25 June.

Workshop objectives

Upskill practitioners and raise awareness of:

  • the role of the private practitioner in an EAD.
  • the importance of biosecurity for the privatepractitioner.
  • EAD obligations and procedures.
  • National arrangements including EADRA and Ausvetplan.
  • epidemiology and clinical signs of importantemergency diseases.
  • sample submissions for EAD exclusion.
  • emerging diseases and zoonoses.
