The wingless grasshopper (Phaulacridium vittatum (Sjöstedt)) is a serious pest of improved pasture in the Tablelands and Western Slopes of south-eastern Australia (below latitude 26°S) to mid-western Victoria.

It is also a pest in Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.

It is generally restricted to areas with an average annual rainfall above 500 mm.
