Myrtle Rust - Movement restrictions and quarantine
Moving to management
NSW is currently in a transition phase from the Myrtle rust emergency response led by I&I NSW to ongoing management of the disease by stakeholders. Part of this transition to management involves moving from a system of regulation imposed by government to self-regulation by industry, the community and individuals. Processes are in place to review current regulations including the NSW Myrtle Rust Quarantine Area and Certification Assurance Arrangements. Management zones have been created to facilitate this transition.
Are you sending nursery stock or cut flowers interstate?
Several states including Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia have now implemented movement conditions for cut flower and nursery stock from the family Myrtaceae (including associated machinery and equipment).
See the list of plants in the family Myrtaceae.
Import conditions involve inspection and fungicide application and may require a plant health certificate as evidence of treatment and inspection. Please contact the destination State Quarantine Authority if you are intending to export material out of NSW.
