NSW DPI's NSW Animal and Plant Health Laboratories (APHL) can assist your business in securing export markets by providing a range of suitable tests for export livestock and genetics. The NSW DPI Laboratories are a NATA accredited facilities providing a range of competitively priced diagnostic tests and services for exporters. These tests are backed by a team of professional staff with extensive expertise and a track record of working with overseas governments.

Export protocols
NSW DPI APHL do not provide export protocols, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) provides the known requirements that exporters must meet for the accepted import of animals and animal products into specific overseas countries. Protocols for live animal exports can be found on DAFF's website: Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICOR).
Quotes
Free no-obligation quotes for large volume testing and discounts for preferred customers are available upon request. It is highly recommended all export submitters arrange quotations for large shipments to allow the laboratories to prepare and work within tight timeframes and quarantine dates. All requests for export quotations must be accompanied by the current testing protocol to ensure correct tests and testing dilutions are applied. Sample submission
All samples must be accompanied by the appropriate sample submission form. Samples accompanied by incomplete forms will encounter processing delays. For assistance completing these forms contact Customer Service.

Courier services and specimen delivery
For NSW submissions, please contact the relevant Customer Service team for courier account details and to order consignment notes.
For submitters outside of NSW, Couriers can be contacted directly to make bookings and arrange collection of packages at the submitters own cost.
Commercial couriers may use either road or air transport and specimens should therefore be packed in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements. Most submission sent by veterinarians to the SVDL for testing are defined as “Biological Substance Category B” and must be packed according to the IATA packing instructions 650 (Biological Substance Category B). As requirements for transport can change, customers should consult with their transport agent to obtain current requirements.
Samples may also be hand delivered to the site during normal business hours (8.30am - 4.30pm).
