Current situation

The Agriculture and Animal Services Functional Area is currently responding to significant flooding events across NSW. Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and Local Land Services (LLS) have set up Local Command Centres at key locations including Wagga and Deniliquin. The main river catchments affected are the Bogan River, the Macquarie River, the Lachlan River, the Murrumbidgee River and the Murray River.

Current ongoing wet weather conditions will prolong flooding conditions, requiring ongoing assistance including fodder supply, movement and husbandry for isolated stock. Currently LLS and DPI are utilising helicopters to deal with stock related issues.

DPI, Local Land Services and other supporting agencies of the Agriculture and Animal Services Functional Area have set up facilities to care for companion animals of evacuees at evacuation centres.
