You can request access to your information at any time. People can also ask for copies of submissions under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. (GIPA Act). The GIPA Act encourages information to be made publicly available unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure.
The Total Allowable Fishing Committee is required to make Total Allowable Catch (TAC) determinations for the following species in the Ocean Trap & Line, Ocean Hauling, Estuary General and Abalone fisheries for the new fishing period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

The Total Allowable Fishing Committee is also required to make Total Allowable Effort (TAE) determinations for the share classes in the Estuary General fishery for the new fishing period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 and, subject to consultation, may also consider a TAE for the fishing period 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.

All members of the public, including all stakeholders and interest groups, are invited to make submissions on the appropriate level of TAC and TAE for each species / share class.

The Ministerial Fisheries Advisory Council (MFAC) was established to provide cross-sectoral advice on strategic policy issues to the Minister for Primary Industries. It includes representatives from the commercial, recreational, indigenous, aquaculture and conservation sectors and has an independent chair.
The Commercial Fishing NSW Advisory Council (CommFish NSW) was established to be the key advisory body providing ongoing expert advice to Government on matters relevant to the sector.
Working groups will be established as required to provide expert advice on specific issues.

The NSW Government supports the establishment of a peak industry body to represent the interests of commercial fishers in NSW, and potentially deliver consultation services on behalf of the NSW Government.
