Habitat management

Marine protected areas

Marine Protected Areas are established to protect and conserve many different types of marine environments and the animals and plants that live in them while offering areas for commercial use, recreation, education and research.

Marine Parks are managed by the Marine Parks Authority (www.mpa.nsw.gov.au) .

Aquatic Reserves are managed by the Department of Environment & Climate Change (www.decc.nsw.gov.au)
