Habitat management

Central West

The Central West Catchment occupies an area of approximately 92,000 square kilometres. It includes the Castlereagh, Bogan and Macquarie River valleys.

Barriers to fish passage

Fish movement within the catchments can be restricted by in-stream barriers.  A report on reducing the impact of weirs in the Central West is available.

Protecting and rehabilitating aquatic habitat

One of NSW DPI's activities to rehabilitate aquatic habitat is to remove or modify weirs.  A case study of the removal of Fairbridge Weir is available.
