Marine Pests Community Page

Welcome to the NSW Department of Primary Industries Marine Pests Community Page. Here you can learn how community groups are working with NSW DPI to manage marine pests and find out how to get involved.

How you can get involved

There are many ways for community volunteers to get involved with caring for our aquatic environment. Some people sign up to be a Fishcare Volunteer. Others get involved by reporting pest sightings.

For more information contact the Aquatic Biosecurity Unit on 02 4982 1232.

Ongoing programs

At Eden on the south coast, volunteers from the Eden Marine Discovery Centre (www.edenmarinediscovery.org.au) are tackling two other introduced pest species, Sabella, an introduced fanworm found in Snug cove and the European shore crab found in the local estuarine creeks.
