Recreational Fishing

Communication in partnership

Allocation

2008/09 - $142,500

Aim

Educate children and their families about responsible fishing practices.

Background

Your licence fees support ongoing communications work by NSW DPI using a wide range of media, including:

  • Producing a wide range of advisory material for the summer fishing season including sticky rulers, bag and size limit flyers, and a range of other flyers and primefacts. These materials are distributed free of charge by Fishcare Volunteers, fee agents and Fisheries Officers and most can be downloaded on the web.
  • Managing the information and advisory service which receives over 9,000 calls and 2,500 emails per year. Most of these enquiries are about recreational fishing rules and information.
  • Managing a range of events and shows on behalf of the Department and the Recreational Fishing Trusts.
