Recreational Fishing

RFA of NSW Fishing Safety DVD

Freshwater Trusts Allocation

2008-09 $12,000

Saltwater Trusts Allocation

2008-09 $28,000

Aim

To produce high quality DVD modules on fishing safety in saltwater and freshwater.

Background

Following the successful, award winning RFA Rockfishing Safety DVD that formed one aspect of the  Rock Fishing Safety Awareness Project, the RFA approached NSW-DPI Fisheries and the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation to investigate the feasibility of a Freshwater Safety DVD. Whilst all  the programs initiated under the Rock Fishing Safety Awareness Project would not be applicable to   freshwater, an informative Freshwater Safety DVD would form part of a safety compilation package that would eventually form a complete DVD available freely within the community.

The individual modules once completed would be able to stand alone, similar to the rockfishing safety DVD, promoted individually to websites via steaming video, links and a multitude of educational material  can be created over the 2 years before finally being packaged as a completed DVD on fishing safely within NSW.

The DVD modules will contain the following content:

  • Rockfishing safety
  • Freshwater fishing safety
  • Saltwater Fishing safety
  • First Aid and safety

The complete DVD will have the 4 chapters incorporated, with some key chapters subtitled in up to 8 Languages including:

  • Korean
  • Chinese
  • Vietnamese
  • Arabic
  • Greek
  • Italian
  • Turkish
  • Macedonian
  • Recreational fishing licence fee
  • Licence fees at work
  • Fishing rules and regulations
  • Saltwater fishing
  • Freshwater fishing
