Aim
The Recreational Fishing Saltwater and Freshwater Expenditure Committees oversee expenditure from Trusts funds. The Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing provides advice to the Minister for Primary Industries on matters relating to recreational fishing.
Background
The Recreational Fishing Saltwater and Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committees oversee expenditure from the Recreational Fishing Trusts. These committees are made up of regional members and the major angling organisations in NSW. The committees usually meet 3-4 times during the year and are also requested to consider issues out of session.
The expenditure committees make recommendations on Trust Funds to the Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing. The Council is the key voice for recreational fishers in NSW and provides high quality advice to the Minister for Primary Industries on matters relating to recreational fishing. The Council plays a key role in consultation over new changes to recreational fishing and advises on the feasibility and acceptability of management initiatives. The Council is required to meet at least four times a year and also considers issues out of session. Meeting expenses associated with these committee meetings, including sitting fees, travel expenses and accommodation, are funded by the Trust.
