Timetable for recovery and threat abatement planning

The Fisheries Management Act 1994  requires a timetable for recovery and threat abatement planning and achievement.

At this time NSW DPI has committed to finalising recovery plans already commenced. The focus will be on implementing actions in approved recovery and threat abatement plans, as well as PAS actions.

Recovery and threat abatement plans are required to state the date by which the plan is to be reviewed by the Director-General of DPI. The timeframe for major statutory review of all approved recovery and threat abatement plans is 10 years from the date of publication. Several of the plans must also undergo audit and review every three years. A list of the finalised recovery and threat abatement plans including the date for major statutory review is shown in the table below.

The decision to prepare recovery or threat abatement plans following any future listings under the Fisheries Management Act 1994 will be made following consideration of the requirements of the species, population and community or KTP.
