I want to go hunting
Authorised hunting in declared State forests now occurs under a special licensing system administered through the Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2002. This system replaces the previous hunting permit issued under section 32B of the Forestry Act 1916.
Authorised hunting in State forests for feral animal control will only occur at sites specifically ‘declared’ for hunting (www.gamecouncil.nsw.gov.au) under the Game and Feral Animal Control Act.
Only accredited, licensed hunters can apply for written permission to hunt feral animals such as pigs, goats, foxes, rabbits and wild deer in these areas.
Signage will be placed at all entry points to forests declared for hunting. Recreational users are still permitted to visit these areas.

Organisations who have applied for a Special Purpose Permit will be included in 3-month management plans that may vary hunter access or in some cases hunting will be suspended for the duration of certain public events.
More detailed information about hunting on declared public land, including which State forest are declared for hunting, can be provided by Game Council NSW website (www.gamecouncil.nsw.gov.au).
