New Frontiers, Exploration NSW & other initiatives

New Frontiers

The New Frontiers initiative is an exploration enhancement to further stimulate mineral and petroleum investment in under-explored terranes. New Frontiers builds on the successes of the Exploration NSW initiative.

New Frontiers has been extended by three years (2008-2011) to continue the government program of pre-competitive funding of geophysical surveys, data compilation, mapping, data interpretation and data delivery.

Exploration NSW

Exploration NSW was launched in July 2000, as a seven year A$30m initiative of the NSW Government, to promote a sustainable mineral and petroleum exploration industry in the state. Exploration NSW programs enhanced the state's framework of geological, geophysical and mineral resources mapping and information. The minerals and petroleum programs were committed to the Broken Hill area and the Far West, Central, North West and New England regions.

Other initiatives

Other initiatives are collaborative projects conducted by the Geological Survey in cooperation with the Commonwealth Government, other state governments, research institutions and exploration companies.
