Mineral Claim Records and Information

The following current computer or written records are available from the I&I NSW Lightning Ridge Office, for inspection, free of charge, by members of the public during office hours.

  1. Records of every application for a mineral claim that has been received by the Director-General. The details available are
    • the name and address of the applicant
    • the location of the claim area as it appears on the department's maps
    • the size of the claim area; and
    • the minerals or purposes applied for
  2. Records of every mineral claim granted by the Director-General. The details available are
    • the name and address of the holder
    • the date of grant
    • the expiry date
    • the location of the claim area as it appears on the department's maps
    • the size of the claim area; and
    • the minerals that may be mined or the purposes that may be carried out on the area
  3. Records of every mineral claim renewed by the Director-General. The details available are
    • the name and address of the holder
    • the new expiry date
    • the location of the claim area as it appears on the department's maps
    • the size of the claim area; and
    • the minerals that may be mined or the purposes that may be carried out on the area
  4. Records of every mineral claim transferred by the Director-General. The details available are
    • the name and address of the new holder
  5. Records of every mineral claim cancelled by the Director-General. The detail available is
    • the date of cancellation

Files maintained by the Director-General and documents lodged by applicants; holders; landholders or members of the public are not available for inspection.

Historical information regarding past mineral claims may also be available, however fees may apply.
