Resources & Investment - Petroleum
New South Wales is Australia's most populous state. Domestic energy requirements have largely been met by high quality coal and gas piped from neighbouring states. The NSW Government is keen to develop and expand the supply of cleaner energy sources, especially gas.
In the past, NSW has attracted only limited interest from the petroleum exploration industry. However, in recent years, encouraged by the Government's exploration initiatives advancing the prospectivity of the state's vast sedimentary basins, exploration activity is now at unprecedented levels.
