Coal, metalliferous and extractive safety advisory committees
Three industry sector safety advisory committees (covering coal, metalliferous and extractive materials) report to the Mine Safety Advisory Council providing strategic advice on sector specific safety issues.
Coal Safety Advisory Committee
For the coal mining industry the Coal Safety Advisory Committee (CSAC) will:
- advise the NSW Minister for Mineral Resources through the Mine Safety Council on legislative regulation, broad industry policy and performance measures
- develop standards, guidelines and procedures
- develop strategies and plans for improving safety standards including awareness
- analyse performance and recommend appropriate action
- facilitate sharing and communication of information.
Metalliferous Industry Safety Advisory Committee
For the metalliferous mining industry the Metalliferous Industries Safety Advisory Committee will:
- advise the NSW Minister for Mineral Resources through the Mine Safety Council on legislative regulation, broad industry policy and performance measures
- develop standards, guidelines and procedures
- develop strategies and plans for improving safety standards including awareness
- analyse performance and recommend appropriate action
- facilitate sharing and communication of information.
Extractives Industry Safety Advisory Committee
For the extractive industries the Extractive Industries Safety Advisory Committee will:
- advise the NSW Minister for Mineral Resources through the Mine Safety Council on legislative regulation, broad industry policy and performance measures
- develop standards, guidelines and procedures
- develop strategies and plans for improving safety standards including awareness
- analyse performance and recommend appropriate action
- facilitate sharing and communication of information.
