Mine Safety Technology Centre

Specialist technical services are provided at the new Mine Safety Technology Centre at Thornton. The MSTC is staffed by specialised mine safety scientists and engineers, providing testing and research projects, as well as training. The main areas of work at this facility comprise analytical services, occupational hygiene, equipment certification and intrinsic safety evaluations on electrical equipment used in underground mining. Mobile gas analysis laboratories also operate from the centre.
