Gazette notices

The principal mine safety Acts which apply to NSW mines are:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000
  • Coal Mine Health and Safety Act 2002
  • Mine Health and Safety Act 2004
  • Explosives Act 2003

These Acts and their supporting regulations set out requirements for ensuring that NSW mines are safe and healthy. These requirements spell out the duties of different groups of people who play a role in workplace health and safety. Where a conflict arises the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 prevails.

OHS Regulation industry information seminars

The Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001 will be fully extended to the NSW mining industry from 1 September 2008. NSW DPI is hosting three industry information seminars for the coal sector that will address the extension of the OHS Regulation. Click here for further information.
