International Mining Fatality Review

The International Mining Fatality Review is an extensive database of mining-related fatalities resulting in a fatality comparison across the world. Mines, equipment hirers and equipment manufacturers can use this statistical data in risk management systems to improve safety.

Fire protection of mobile equipment

The following spreadsheet contains a summary of NSW DPI incident data from the COMET database (2001 to 2008) displaying any injuries that may have occurred for mechanical equipment mobile incidents containing 'fire' in the incident subtype, comments, circumstances or apparent causes.

Prevention of underground fires

An analysis of 81 underground fires involving diesel-powered mobile equipment in NSW mines between July 1990 and September 2000 has indicated that virtually all of the fires could have been prevented by better maintenance.
