International Mining Fatality Review

The International Mining Fatality Review was prepared by Russell Noon, a university undergraduate from the University of Wollongong. Russell undertook industrial experience with NSW DPI during the 2003/2004 summer break. The aim of Russells project was to compile an extensive database of mining-related fatalities resulting in a fatality comparison across the world. Mines, equipment hirers and equipment manufacturers could then use this statistical data in risk management systems to improve safety. The data and information in the International Mining Fatality Review is the work of Russell and has not undergone detailed review by other NSW DPI officers. NSW DPI acknowledges there may be alternative interpretations to some of the categories selected by Russell.
