Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar

Venue

The 18th Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar will be held at the Waterview Convention Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August 2008. The Waterview Convention Centre is situated within the picturesque Bicentennial Park area of Sydney Olympic Park, overlooking Lake Belvedere. A conference dinner wil be held on Wednesday evening in the Freshwater Ballroom at the Novotel, Sydney Olympic Park. Accommodation

Accommodation is available within Sydney Olympic Park at the Novotel and Ibis Hotel.  A reduced rate has been negotiated for seminar delegates. Please quote DPI120808 to access the special delegate rate for this event when making your accommodation booking. Note: The unique number applies to this event only, a different number will be available for other events. There are 321 accommodation rooms available in the Novotel / Ibis hotel complex, however it is recommended you book early.

Alternative accommodation is available at the Mercure Hotel in Parramatta, a 10 minute drive from Sydney Olympic Park. Hotel transfers can be arranged between the Mercure and Novotel Hotel. Other accommodation is also available nearby in Parramatta and North Ryde.

Parking and transport

A courtesy NSW DPI shuttle bus will be operating between the Novotel and Ibis Hotel and the WaterView Convention Centre throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday. A schedule will be available closer to the event. Limited free parking is available at the Waterview Convention Centre and in surrounding streets within Bicentennial Park. Secure parking is available at parking stations throughout Sydney Olympic Park.   A number of parking stations are conveniently located close to both the hotel complex and the convention centre.  Secure parking is also available through the Novotel and Ibis hotels and can be arranged when making your accommodation booking.

Further information on parking, including charges and payment methods, is available from the Sydney Olympic Park website. A direct train service runs from Lidcombe station and Central station to Olympic Park station every twenty minutes on weekdays. Bus services are also available from Parramatta, Lidcombe, Hurstville and Chatswood. A Caltex / Woolworths Fuel Plus petrol station is located within five minutes drive at Newington Marketplace and a Shell petrol station is located within two minutes drive on Parramatta Rd, Lidcombe.

A number of maps are available on the Sydney Olympic Park website, including a visitor map, driving directions map and parking map. If you have not visited the park previously, it is recommended you download one of the available maps.
