Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar

Venue

The 21st Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar will be held at the Waterview Convention Centre, Bicentennial Drive (off Australia Ave), Sydney Olympic Park, on Wednesday 10 August and Thursday 11 August  2011. The seminar registration form is now available. Registrations can be returned by fax, mail or email, by following the instructions on the form.

Program

A preliminary program is now available. The theme for this year's seminar is 'Engineering towards a safer tomorrow' and the key note speaker is Cristian Sylvestre. Cristian is the Principal of SafeTrain and provides OHS and environmental consultancy services, training and auditing for Australian businesses. He specialises in human error prevention - not from a psychological or academic perspective - but from a practical one.

Accommodation

Accommodation is available within Sydney Olympic Park at the Pullman, Novotel, Ibis and Formule 1 hotels, as well as The Lodge.

As accommodation within Sydney Olympic Park is often limited, we have secured a number of queen guest rooms at the Mercure Hotel, Parramatta. For reservations call 02 8836 1000 and quote the code DTI 100811.

Parking and transport

Secure parking is available at parking stations throughout Sydney Olympic Park.   A number of parking stations are conveniently located close to both the hotel complex and the convention centre.  Secure parking is also available through the Novotel and Ibis hotels and can be arranged when making your accommodation booking.

Further information on parking, including charges and payment methods, is available from the Sydney Olympic Park website. A direct train service runs from Lidcombe station and Central station to Olympic Park station every 20 minutes on weekdays. Bus services are also available from Parramatta, Lidcombe, Hurstville and Chatswood. A Caltex / Woolworths Fuel Plus petrol station is located within five minutes drive at Newington Marketplace and a Shell petrol station is located within two minutes drive on Parramatta Rd, Lidcombe.

Maps and driving directions

A number of maps are available on the Sydney Olympic Park website, including a visitor map, driving directions map and parking map. If you have not visited the park previously, it is recommended you download one of the available maps.
