Survey and Drafting Directions for Mine Surveyors (NSW Coal)

These Directions are to be followed by all mining surveyors in all open cut and underground operations.

Survey and Drafting Directions for Mine Surveyors (NSW Coal) Issued pursuant to clause 4 of the Surveying Regulations 2006 - 510 kb PDF

These Directions issued by the Surveyor General on the advice of the Board of Surveying and Spatial information, provide for the hardcopy and digital recording, storage and preparation of the Mine Workings Plan and Mine Record Tracing. This Direction replaces the Survey and Drafting Directions for Mine Surveyors issued pursuant to Part 7, Clause 64, of the Coal Mines (General) Regulations 1999, published in March 2000.

Issued as an adjunct to General Rule 2000 under the Mines Inspection Act 1901

These Directions are to be followed by all mining surveyors in all open cut and underground operations:

  • on current mining leases
  • on mineral claims where advice by the Chief Inspector has been given under Section 41(1)(b) of the Mines Inspection Act 1901.
  • involving extractive industries operations employing 20 or more persons
  • involving other extractive industries operations where advice by the Chief Inspector has been given under Section 41(1)(b) of the Mines Inspection Act 1901.
