Summary
The leafhopper tribe Euacanthellini was previously represented in Australia by two uncommon species of elongate leafhoppers in the genus Euacanthella. Both are known from NSW and Tasmania with one of these also recorded in New Zealand. An invertebrate survey of Barrow Island associated with the Gorgon Gas Development has revealed a third Australian species of the genus with a remarkable female in which the ovipositor makes up one third of the total length of the body. The species is adapted for laying its eggs some distance into clumps of spinifex grass or into the ground. Images of all three species can be seen from http://www1.dpi.nsw.gov.au/keys/leafhop/euacanthellinae/euacanthellini.htm
