Long-term recaptures of tagged Scyllarid lobsters (Ibacus peronii) from the east coast of Australia

Stewart J., 2003. Long-term recaptures of tagged Scyllarid lobsters (Ibacus peronii) from the east coast of Australia . Fisheries Research 63: 261-254.

Non Technical Summary

This manuscript is an additional output from a previous study into the biology and fishery for Balmain bugs. The paper documents long-term recaptures of Balmain bugs that were tagged during 1993/94. The longest recorded time at liberty was 3,417 days and represents a record for all similar species around the world. These long-term recaptures reinforce previous conclusions about the growth and movements of Balmain bugs and confirm that the tagging methodology used in this study works well for long-lived animals.
