Information within the Status of Fisheries Resources in NSW 2008/09 can be accessed in several ways. Rather than download the full report (10 MB) you can select the smaller (2-4 page) reports available for each of the 108 species or species groups.

Shorter species reports

Each of these shorter reports typically includes:

  • the standard and scientific names for the species (or each species in the group)
  • an illustration of the fish or shellfish
  • background information about the biology of the species
  • more detailed comments about harvesting issues in NSW
  • a graph of the commercial catches and catch by commercial fishery
  • a statement about the recreational catch
  • a graph of the catch rates (i.e. catch corrected for the amount of fishing effort)
  • information about the distribution of lengths of harvested fish (if available)
  • growth patterns of individual fish (if available)
  • a bibliography, and
