Advisory and regulatory services - NSW Centre for Tropical Horticulture
The Centre has an air-conditioned conference room for meetings
The station supports several advisory staff who assist the local industries, with current information, support and development. A district horticulturalist advises growers in the macadamia and mango industries, and quality assurance and another horticulturalist assists growers of low chill stone fruit, blueberries, herbs and emerging industries.
The Centre is also the hub of a regional horticultural extension group of officers located at Coffs Harbour and Murwillumbah.
Murwillumbah houses district horticulturalists for local advice on bananas, passion fruit, coffee and quality assurance.
Coffs Harbour district horticulturalists provide local advice on bananas, macadamias, blueberries, citrus, vegetables, ornamental plants, nurseries, avocados and quality assurance.
The general enquiries officer for the northern region is located at Murwillumbah.
Regulatory services
Three regulatory officers oversee an extensive food quality assurance program, along with monitoring the area for outbreaks of notifiable pests and diseases associated with plants and administer the Acts and regulations dealing with agriculture.
