Meat quality research is undertaken in collaboration with the CRC for Beef Genetics Technologies

Funding of the Centre’s work is supplemented by competitive grants from industry bodies. These include:

  • Meat and Livestock Australia
  • Australian Wool Innovation
  • National Heritage Trust
  • Land and Water Australia
  • Grains Research and Development Corporation
  • Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority, and,
  • private companies co-investing in pasture breeding.

Alliances

The Centre is involved in current collaborations with the major programs ‘Molecular Marker studies for Beef Tenderness’ (Cooperative Research Centre for Beef Genetics Technologies) and ‘Selection for Muscling in Beef Cattle’ (NSW DPI’s Beef Industry Centre) - both located on the campus of the University of New England at Armidale.

Other significant collaborations currently are with:

  • the ‘Future Farming Industries’ Cooperative Research Centre for grass breeding work;
  • AgResearch, Grasslanz Technology Limited, Agricom in New Zealand for legume breeding work; 
  • the Primary Industries Innovation Centre (University of New England) for sustainable land-use studies; and,
  • Queensland Murray-Darling Committee,
  • Border-Rivers Gwwydir CMA,
  • Northern Rivers CMA,
  • Southern Cross University,
