Market Access and Postharvest Research

Post-harvest research on peaches in the GPII flyroom

Post-harvest research on peaches in the GPII flyroom

Six research officers and an extension officer develop, evaluate and implement new systems to improve the quality, food safety and market access of NSW horticultural products.

Their research has enabled citrus exports to Japan, New Zealand, Korea and USA through evaluation of new storage and logistic technologies for horticultural produce and evaluation of new disinfestation treatments and protocols for overcoming quarantine barriers.

They also conduct research into the management of product quality and safety in the horticulture supply chains. This work focuses on important crops for NSW such as citrus, onions, temperate fruit, Asian vegetables, greenhouse vegetables, green tea and flowers.
