Facilities and resources at Tamworth Agricultural Institute

During the last 5 years TAI has received significant state and federal funding for new infrastructure and upgrades worth over $3.2 million including over $1 million allocated for construction of state of the art plant and soil processing facilities in 2006.

The Tamworth Agricultural Institute has a total staff of 144 people.  This number includes 53 professional research and extension staff and 65 technical support staff directly involved with the Department's front-line research and extension activities. The staff establishment is made up of 86% permanent, 45% temporary and 8% casual positions.

The Institute competes strongly for external funding support for its research and extension activities.  This figure has grown from $3.8 million in 1997/98 to $6.2 million in 2005/06.  This is a rate of nearly 8% per year over the 8 year period and is an excellent performance in an increasingly competitive funding environment.
