Facilities and resources at Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute

There is over 470ha of land under management to support the research, extension, regulatory and educational objectives of the staff. Infrastructure at the Institute and the supporting research stations at Duck Creek and Pearces Creek, include irrigation dams, cattle yards, glasshouses, shade houses and potting sheds. There is also a conference facility which holds 100 people and various smaller meeting rooms which can host regional group meetings or workshops. Please contact Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute for more information.

The NATA accredited laboratories on site include environmental laboratories.

Big Scrub

Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute also has a heritage listed rainforest. This area was once part of the “Big Scrub”, and represents a very important remnant of a once large sub-tropical rainforest and the unique flora and fauna of this region. Native vegetation regeneration and land care are ongoing projects to both protect and expand the remnant natural rainforest and surrounding areas on the site.
