Background
Chris Lane coordinates the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) node of the Invasive Animals Cooperative Research Centre (IA CRC). The IA CRC aims to counteract the impact of invasive animals through the development and application of new technologies and by integrating approaches across agencies and jurisdictions. It is the first time that research, industry, environmental, commercial and government agencies are working together on such a large scale to create and apply solutions for invasive animal threats.
Chris joined NSW DPI in 2005 in his current position after more than 12 years in the Rural Lands Protection Board System in NSW as a Multi-Skilled Ranger, before becoming the State’s Pest Animal Manager with State Council.

Current projects
- Improving the humanness and efficiency of fumigating rabbits in burrow complexes
- Improving RHD strategies for rabbit control
- Provide mechanisms for the transfer and uptake of skills to land managers so that they can identify, prioritise and manage invasive pests
- Development of a new toxin for canid management
- Development of a new toxin for feral pig management
