Background
Steven Hum graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Budapest in Hungary in 1977. After working in veterinary practice in Hungary for several years, he moved to Australia, initially working in veterinary laboratories in Victoria, then as a veterinary pathologist at the Regional Veterinary Laboratory, Armidale, NSW. Steven has worked as a veterinary pathologist at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute, Menangle, since 1996 and is involved in diagnostic veterinary pathology across a wide range of species. He is interested in the description of new disease conditions, in depth investigations of existing diseases, development of new diagnostic techniques and quality control of veterinary laboratory testing. Steven completed a Graduate Certificate in Animal Welfare through the Department of Psychology at Monash University, Melbourne, in 2006. He is an Honorary Associate of the University of Sydney Faculty of Veterinary Science. Steven has a special interest in reproductive efficiency and development of serological tests for diagnosis of farm animal diseases. He has conducted field and laboratory research on bovine campylobacteriosis and has provided a consultancy service on reproductive diseases for the cattle industry.
