How to enter

You can use the online Nominate form to acknowledge an outstanding family member, neighbour, client or colleague OR you can put yourself forward as a candidate by completing the online Application form.

Terms and conditions

  • A number of finalists will be selected based on the merit of the applications received and any subsequent information as requested.
  • Finalists will participate in a farm visit and interview with the judges.
  • The judging panel will consist of representatives from NSW DPI, NSW Farmers, SafeWork NSW and The Land. The judges’ decision will be final.
  • NSW DPI, NSW Farmers, SafeWork NSW, The Land,The Farmer Magazine and Medium Rare staff are not eligible to apply.
  • All finalists will receive:
    • Two tickets to the Awards ceremony in Sydney (late November / early December)
    • Accommodation for two in Sydney for the awards ceremony
    • All regionally located finalists receive two airline tickets to fly into Sydney for the awards ceremony
    • NSW Farmer of the Year logo and digital products for your farm or enterprise to use for the year
    • An article in The Land and The Farmer Magazine announcing finalists
    • Finalist certificate, trophy and official photographs
    • Various media opportunities such as interviews, videos, social media, website and invitations to various industry events


The Application form has five sections. Completing it is expected to take around 10-15 minutes, if you have responses to the above information readily available.
