Global automatic milking systems R&D webinar

9 Dec 2019

Dairy farmers and service providers are encouraged to register for the first ever global automatic milking systems R&D webinar hosted by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

The Global AMS R&D Online Showcase will be held on Tuesday 10 December 2019 from 9.00am to 7.00pm. People interested can register and will be able to participate in the full program or choose the segments of most interest to them.

NSW DPI Dairy Development Officer, Nicolas Lyons said NSW DPI is very proud to announce they have engaged 21 speakers from 13 countries to present on automatic milking system in their countries.

“This reflects the great work done by NSW DPI in the area of precision dairy farming and technology as well as on the international networks we have built,” Mr Lyons said.

“Speakers are from countries including: Uruguay, Argentina, Brasil, United States, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, France, Japan and Australia.

“Each presentation will address the challenges and opportunities with the adoption of automatic milking systems in their country, and participants will be able to ask questions directly to the experts.

“Worldwide, new technology is making a big difference in the dairy industry, and this webinar provides a great opportunity for local producers to hear the latest on innovative dairy farm management.”

Every day around 3 million dairy cows are milked by robots across the globe. Australian dairy farmers are already investing in this technology and this is expected to grow into the future.

“Farmers and service providers will have full-day access to leading experts from around the world. Why would you choose to travel 85,935 km, which is two times around the world, or a quarter of the way to the moon? We will spare you from taking 25 flights, and spending almost 7 days non-stop flying!”

Milking Edge is an Australian dairy industry project delivered by NSW DPI in collaboration with Dairy Australia and DeLaval to 'Support industry to consider, invest and operate automatic milking systems (AMS) successfully'.
