Landholders encouraged to complete bushfire damage survey

11 Feb 2020

Bushfire affected landholders have been encouraged to report any damage or losses to the NSW Department of Primary Industries.

Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Deputy Incident Controller, Karen Roberts said the online Primary Industries Natural Disaster Damage Survey records animal injuries and losses as well as damage to farm infrastructure from natural disasters.

“The survey acts as a single source of ‘ground truth’ information and provides landholders with information on the severity of damage in their area,” Ms Roberts said.

“It also helps NSW DPI develop a clear picture of the scale, severity, value and distribution of damage in each area, so we can target support and relief efforts as effectively as possible as we move through the recovery process.

“The survey allows primary producers to provide the number of crops, animals and infrastructure damaged as a result of the bushfires and add photos to the assessment.”

NSW DPI has launched an online Bushfire Hub to ensure primary producers have all the resources and information they need to fast-track their recovery from the widespread fires that have impacted properties across the state.

For more information on completing the survey or for information on the broad range of assistance and support available to NSW primary producers, visit Bushfire Hub.
