Young Farmer Business Program Conference participants on stage

Dubbo will welcome approximately 300 young farmers and fishers as part of the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Young Farmer Business Program conference to be held on Friday 28 May 2021.

Aspiring farmers and fishers will be travelling long distances to ensure their seat at the conference, where they will focus on developing their business skills and learning from expert speakers.

The conference collaborates with industry professionals to assist young farmers and fishers when establishing or expanding their business.

DPI’s Young Farmer Business Project Lead, Lisa McFadyen said it’s great to see so many young farmers and fishers keen to learn about the drivers of successful primary production businesses, support services and practical steps to achieve their business goals.

“Young farmers and fishers are the future of our state’s primary industries sector and our goal is to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their business ventures,” Ms McFadyen said.

“The aim is to equip them with valuable business, financial and planning skills to enhance their development and prospects in the agricultural sector.

“We are thrilled to host the awesome Young Farmer Business Program conference and showcase local, innovative agricultural businesses for a second year in Dubbo, following the inaugural conference in 2020.

“This significant event is a great opportunity for young farmers and fishers to network and learn and make use of the informative trade display hub. We’re providing a strong agricultural network with social connections between young farmers and fishers, sharing stories of success, resilience and challenges that they all have experienced or can learn from.

“Prior to the conference, farm tours on Thursday 27 May will give delegates the opportunity to meet successful, passionate, local agricultural business people who strive to produce sustainable, quality produce for local, national and international markets.”

The conference is held at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre. Ticket sales close 5pm Wednesday 26th May 2021.
