Assistance available for fire affected landholders

NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in partnership with Local Land Services (LLS), is supporting fire affected farmers and land managers in the Central Tablelands.

Incident Controller Nichole Priest said the DPI and LLS staff were responding as the Agricultural and Animal Services Functional Area (AASFA).

“AASFA crews are in the field assisting farmers and communities with animal welfare and agriculture related issues arising from the current bushfire at Tambaroora, north of Hill End.”

“AASFA can provide assistance with animal assessment and veterinary assistance, emergency fodder, livestock euthanasia and burial if required,” Ms Priest said.

“Farmers and land managers can request assistance via the emergency hotline on 1800 814 647.”

“We have received a number of requests so far from landholders whose stock have been affected and injured by the fire and we have staff available to assist with new cases via the hotline.”

Ms Priest encouraged farmers and land managers to check with the NSW RFS for updates on the fire situation via the website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au or by calling 1800 NSW RFS (1800 679 737).

“With conditions continuing to change it is important for everyone to be putting their own safety, and the safety of their families and communities first,” she said.

“People should heed the advice of the RFS before they attempt to make any assessments of fire damage to property or livestock.”
